'The Hidden Realm' | Blood of Zeus S02E07
The Spores of Demeter
Morbid though it may be, this scene was incredibly important to me. This was the first scene given to me at Powerhouse that was entirely my own. I was hired on to Blood of Zeus as a revisionist, but after growing quite close with my coworkers and directors, I was allowed to take on bigger and bigger assignments, until episode 7 where I was given the chance to board this entire scene from scratch. It was very surreal to have that responsibility, and even more surreal to see it fully animated earlier this year.
More horses! Only somewhat, though. My contributions to this scene were mostly facial expressions, but I also set up the staging for a lot of scenes on the Amazonian ship as well!
Misc Blood of Zeus S02E06 Boards and Revisions
206 had a lot going on in it, so I've compiled together a few different sets of boards and revisions I got to do.
So. Many. Horses.
I really shouldn't complain about this. It was great practice, and at the end of the day it was also a lot of fun. Horses are notoriously hard to draw, let alone animate. So, given that I am actually fairly good at drawing horses, I thought I'd do as good of a job as possible for the sake of the animators. Once the rest of the team caught on, suddenly I got almost every shot with a horse in it.
Seraphim, my beloved.
I kinda wish I had gotten more time to work on this scene so I could experiment more with the expressions of the characters involved, but I still think it turned out really well.
Subtle touches are sometimes the things I have the most fun with
At the time I was assigned this board, we actually didn't have a fully locked design for Iris, meaning I got to mess around with the design before the concept artists, which was definitely a lot of fun. But the thing I'm always the most excited to show off is the use of Linear B at the very end to (sort of) spell Heron's name.
Zeus and Electra | Blood of Zeus S02E05
I had a great time working on this scene, although the height difference between Zeus and Electra made these intimate shots just a little bit difficult. Still, the end results I am very proud of!
'Funeral Games' Board Revisions | Blood of Zeus S02E04
Episode 204 of Blood of Zeus was an especially fun one for me, since it was the first episode I got to take part in from start to finish. It was also my first chance to really show off what I could do with character acting and VFX. Not everything I pitched made it to the final cut, but I couldn't believe how much of it DID.
'Winter Is Born' Board Revisions | Blood of Zeus S02E03
I was hired by Powerhouse Animation Studios in 2022 to work on Blood of Zeus, beginning in Season 2. It was a ton of fun and I'm so happy with the work I got to do. I only did a few small edits in the first few episodes, but as time went on I was given the chance to really show off my capabilities. Here's some of my favorite shots from episode 3!
Big Bass Challenge | The Adventure Zone
"Big Bass Challenge" has got to be one of the funniest scenes in the entirety of The Adventure Zone series. Whenever I come back to this, I find myself practically wheezing with laughter, so I decided to use it for some storyboarding practice.
The Adventure Zone and all related characters are property of the McElroy family and Maximumfun. This clip was from the San Diego Live show in 2017. Character designs by me.
Spellcasters | Bookland
Bookland is a short personal project that I began working on earlier this year, in which I took outtakes from projects that I recorded years ago, and repurposed them as dialogue for a new series. The series follows two friends as they traverse the inside of a seemingly infinite library in search for an ultimate treasure.
This particular scene follows the two main characters, Niamh and Troy as they practice magic out of some spellbooks that they found.
