Hiatus (Nearly) Over

12 June 2020

My much-needed vacation is coming to a much-needed end. I took some time off the past couple of weeks during the COVID-19 epidemic to spend some time working on my mental health and trying to build a better relationship with my artistic ambitions.

In that time, I’ve begun work on some new Storyboard projects which should be out very soon, and did some collaborative writing projects including working on the upcoming episodes of The Shadow Dispatch and the Azure fangame. I’m also planning much more Youtube content so you’ll be able to see more of my artistic process, and so I can get some more experience editing videos and animating motion-graphics.

To the left is a compendium of some drawings I’ve finished over the past month or so. Check out the “Illustration” tab to see them all! Expect a return-to-form very soon. Providing you all with content is what drives me in life and I can’t wait to see you all again.

Stay safe, friends.

February Work So Far

22 February 2020

February has been a crazy month so far between traveling, job hunting and show-running the Shadow Dispatch, but I’ve managed to stay on top of my artwork as much as I could have.

The four pieces I wanted to showcase here aren’t related to any larger projects I’ve been working on. They’re just pieces that I did to help me practice character design. The most recent in the batch was made for a Draw This In Your Style challenge on Instagram which I didn’t finish in time. In my defense, I didn’t find out about the competition until a day before it ended. Oh well.

Also for anybody interested, I will hopefully be starting YouTube again very soon. I have some animation work that I need to do for a new video I’ve been working on, and I think the results are going to be great.

Cheers

Vince

Reviving a Bookland Character

11 Dec, 2019

niamh charactersheet.jpg

I was hitting a bit of an art block recently so I thought I’d dig up one of my older characters and give her an updated model sheet. I actually want to draw her again in more detail and with more poses when I have the time. She’s one of my favorites and I’d love to see her flourish again.

She’s from a project I had been working on a while back called “Bookland” about two friends who go on an adventure through an enchanted library. Throughout the journey, she studies hard and pretty much brute-forces her way into becoming every imaginable kind of wizard.

The staff she carries with her can change its shape depending on what she’s using it for at the time (I also definitely want to do a breakdown of its design sometime soon).

Preemptive New Years Resolution

4 Dec, 2019

The New year hasn’t come just yet, but I’ve preemptively decided that my 2020 resolution is going to be doing a lot more art exercises. I certainly want to improve my technical skills wherever I can, and the only way to do that is to practice all the time. Looking forward to that, and hoping I’ll have the time!

Welcome to the new website!

3 Dec, 2019

It’s been a long time coming, but I finally put together a website where I can house the entirety of my portfolio. I’ll be updating each section according to new content that I post, and all updates will also be posted here on the homepage.

That being said, the first thing I’m going to post here is a new illustrated self-portrait that I’m going to be using as my social media icon. Certainly a good way to close out the decade and venture into the future.

Stay Awesome,
-Nova

Illustrated Self-Portrait (Dec 2019)

The spooky season has passed us by, so creating a new icon was necessary. I’m very pleased with how this turned out, and I think I’m finally coming into my illustrated style.

Also, I think you can expect my cat to be in most of my future portraits, as he never leaves my side while I draw. He’s a very sweet boy.
